ICA launches SA’s first live art book

The University of Cape Town’s interdisciplinary Institute for Creative Arts (ICA) kicks off its 2019 programme with the launch on Saturday, 16 February, of its highly-anticipated new book, Acts of Transgression: Contemporary Live Art in South Africa.

Unbanned books now important historical artefacts

Books, films and publications that were once banned by the apartheid regime in South Africa will be on display until 5 October as the University of Cape Town (UCT) marks Banned Books Week.

Dignifying Sarah Baartman

One of the most important artworks in UCT’s collection, the Sarah Baartman sculpture by Willie Bester, has been exhibited alongside a sound installation featuring a poem by Diana Ferrus, images and other artwork in an exhibition entitled Sarah ‘Saartjie’ Baartman, A Call to Respond.
