Hiddingh Hall Library Closed for Renovations from 2 Jan - 11 Feb 2019

Hiddingh Hall Library will be closed for renovations from Wednesday 2 January 2019 until Monday 11 February 2019. Hiddingh Hall Library staff will relocate to the Chancellor Oppenheimer Library. During this time please email us for assistance with reference, training and circulation queries.

Hiddingh Hall Library Student Assistant Applications for 2019 Now Open

UCT students are hereby invited to apply for part-time positions as Student Library Assistants at Hiddingh Hall Library in 2019. Application forms along with a signed code of conduct must be emailed to or handed in at the Hiddingh Hall Library front desk. Closing date 31 October 2018

Unbanned books now important historical artefacts

Books, films and publications that were once banned by the apartheid regime in South Africa will be on display until 5 October as the University of Cape Town (UCT) marks Banned Books Week.

Dignifying Sarah Baartman

One of the most important artworks in UCT’s collection, the Sarah Baartman sculpture by Willie Bester, has been exhibited alongside a sound installation featuring a poem by Diana Ferrus, images and other artwork in an exhibition entitled Sarah ‘Saartjie’ Baartman, A Call to Respond.
